1835: Two merchants, one venture
Brysons dates its founding to 1835, when two Scottish merchants joined forces in Antigua. Trade by sea was central to island life, and the business grew around the ships and cargo passing through St. John's.

1880: Agents for Lloyd's
In 1880, Brysons was appointed Lloyd's agents in Antigua, beginning a relationship with the London insurance market that has lasted more than a century.
As Lloyd's survey agents, Brysons has provided surveys, along with vessel movement and casualty reports for Antigua and Montserrat.

1895: Incorporation
When Antigua's company registry opened in 1895, the business was incorporated as Geo. W. Bennett Bryson & Co. Ltd., the name it still trades under today.

1992: A managing general agency
As large UK insurers withdrew from the local market, Brysons Insurance Agency was appointed managing general agent in Antigua and Barbuda for NAGICO, the National General Insurance Corporation, in 1992.

Today
More than 190 years on, Brysons operates through two divisions, insurance and shipping, alongside its Money Transfer service. The company remains rooted in Antigua and connected to insurers, shipping lines and partners around the world.
